![]() The original Star Wars Angry Birds game took place primarily in space and was dark, and sometimes boring. The individual levels also feature stunning graphics. In previous versions of the game, a player could work through an entire map of fifteen levels without realizing how far they had gotten. ![]() The mapping sequences in between levels are now actually shown through animation each time the player completes a level, which makes it easier to feel a sense of accomplishment. This is saying quite a bit, because I found the Angry Birds Rio game to be bright and fun. And of course there's a massive 'Star Wars' following who will enjoy the game."Īngry Birds Star Wars will be available on iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone and Windows 8.Mapping sequences are prettier AND collecting a map in certain levels gives the player bonus levels.įirst of all, this game is visually far more appealing than any previous Angry Birds game (and I have played them all-I’m mildly obsessed). "And they'll be introduced to 'Star Wars' for the first time. "There are a lot of young Angry Birds fans, from about age four and onward," Heijari said. Rovio hopes not only to attract Star Wars fans, but also to introduce the Saga to a whole new generation. "People seem to instinctively know what to do when handed a lightsaber or a bird in a slingshot, so this is a natural combination." "Both Star Wars and Angry Birds share the instant and irresistible appeal of hands-on fun," Colum Slevin, Vice President and Head of Studio Operations for Lucasfilm Ltd., said in a statement. "There were a lot of huge 'Star Wars' fans on the design team and we thought, 'Where do we go from here after launching the space game?'…so Angry Birds Star Wars was a singular leap from Angry Birds Space."Īfter that, the partnership was a no-brainer. ![]() The idea for the game came up around the time Rovio released Angry Birds Space, a collaboration with NASA. "You'll see a lot of new elements to the same familiar gameplay," Heijari said. ![]() Other birds will be different characters from the 'Star Wars' universe and have special powers according to their Star Wars role."Īngry Birds players will also see familiar scenes from the Star Wars movies but the feel will still be true to the Angry Birds brand. "For instance, Red Bird will be Luke Skywalker. "Our teams have collaborated in creating the perfect mashup of Star Wars characters and Angry Birds characters," Heijari said. While Rovio isn't giving much away, its vice president of franchise development, Ville Heijari, dropped a few hints. The Force is definitely strong with this one." "As a big 'Star Wars' fan myself, I'm really excited about this new universe. It's the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away," Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka said in a statement. "This is the best Angry Birds game we've ever done. The widely anticipated game, which will combine the classic Angry Birds with the stories, settings and characters of the "Star Wars" saga, will be released worldwide on Nov. have joined forces to combine the two in one video game. ![]() The main weapon has 9 different shots, each one has different effects from doing more damage, to traveling through walls. Jason has two weapons in this mode, a upgradeable main weapon and limited use sub weapon. ![]() Again, take note of the impressive detail here. When you find a dungeon, going inside will switch to the 3D overhead view, this is where you must adapt to the new play style. This should make the game much easier to play unlike Blaster Master Overdrive where dying once results in game over and reloading save data which is very rare to find within the path of your destination. The only check points available are the save points in various locations or the doorway to dungeons. This game has no lives, so if you die you just return to the last checkpoint. If you need to save the game at any time, you can do so from the pause menu as well, just remember saving that way will not save exactly where you are, only up to a checkpoint. If for some reason you do get separated which is unlikely in my experience. Simply stand on the save point with Jason and press the call button (shown in the prompt) the game will bring Sophia where ever it is to the save point where Jason is. This also has another feature, this can call Sophia if you get separated. There are save points in various places in the game. Inside this place, he found a large tank named SOPHIA III, Pronounced "Sophia The Third." He followed Fred into a subterranean world where humanity was living during a great war with mutants from the past. Some time after, Fred managed to escape and Jason went after. He felt interest in it, so he decided to keep it and named it Fred. He was out one day exploring and found a creature that resembled a frog but there was no records of the creature. ![]() You play as Jason Frudnick, a genius in robotic engineering. For anyone who didn't read all of that, here is the premise of the game. In order to bring Fred back, Jason hopped into SOPHIA 3rd and set out on his adventure. A large vehicle awaited him there.Īlmost as if this vehicle with the name “SOPHIA 3rd” on the side was inviting him in, the door the cockpit opened up. Jason gave chase, and before he knew it he had stumbled into the subterranean world where humanity once resided. But, after some time had passed it found a way to escape. No records of this creature existed, so with his interest in this mysterious creature piqued, Jason named it “Fred” and began to observe it closely. One day, he came upon a creature he had never seen before. Several hundred years have passed since then.Įnter a young man named Jason Frudnick, a genius in the field of robotic engineering. During this time, a large mysterious comet fell to the earth, but the progress of restoring their lost ecosystem was coming along well, and humanity was eventually able to live on the surface once again. When the ice age finally came to an end, humanity begin developing methods while they were living underground to one day restore their planet to the lush green landscape it once was. Many kinds of creatures once coexisted on this verdant planet, but after countless wars and untold environmental destruction, the planet was plunged into an ice age, and humanity was left with no choice but to migrate en masse underground. Space-related items are all over the board, from rockets to stars. You start off every game with three balls. When you first put a ball in play, your first objective is to hit this small set of targets on the left side of the board. These targets are so hard to hit, you can go through your entire game without ever hitting any of these targets. Your chances of hitting one of these targets rely purely on chance. Then if you ever manage to strike one of the targets, your then supposed to hit the ball up a ramp. You can easily hit the ball up this ramp five or six times in a row. Well, isn’t that the whole objective of pinball? Once you do this, you’re then asked again to hit various targets all over the board. But what makes this pinball game so frustrating is that it relies purely on luck. ![]() In real pinball machines, you are able to time it so that you are able to hit the desired targets. But in this game, your only real goal is to just prevent the ball from slipping by the flippers. The gameplay is just plain frustrating.ģD Pinball: Space Commander has decent graphics. It has everything a pinball game should have. There are lots of blinking lights, colorful table, bright bumpers, etc. But there could have been more added to the game’s visual department to make it an overall better experience. The background behind the pinball machine is just an empty black screen. The people behind this game could have shown a little creativity by adding something here. But I suppose that is only a minor detail. The artwork on the table, such as rockets and aliens, are a good touch. In the end, this game doesn’t look too shabby. There are tons of sound effects in this game. But what really hurts this game’s audio is that a lot of these sound effects skip and are not very smooth. There are also no voices or anything like that. Just the endless array of beeps, whooshes, and rings. (Isn’t that a bad sign already?) But don’t expect the music to be the game’s savior. The music is some odd kind of MIDI music. ![]() ![]() It has a sort of “dark and mysterious” feeling to it. ![]() However, this is the only song in the game, and is just played on a loop. Replay value? In a pinball game? Excuse me, but I don’t believe pinball games usually have any kind of replay value. I guess that the only form of reply value in this game is the high scores. Playing over and over again to beat a high score can be challenging. The bottom-line is that this game just doesn’t really have any replay value. What more can I say? It’s one of those games that are already in your computer when you purchase it. I guess I should take into account the fact that it’s free. Try to get a thieves medium backpack when you can when soloing, but go with a small thieves backpack when in groups. I'd go for wooden sandals, unplated samurai cloth pants, chainmail, a duster coat or leather mercenary armor and police helmet or iron hat (mainly because iron hats are cool). Like dex 50+, str 80+, atk & def 50+įor solo play I would want to be reasonable fast to run away when necessary. ![]() Just don't start using them until you have high stats. Heavy weapons used to be a bad choice for solo play, but they changed the maximum number of people that can attack you at a time from 3 to 1. Originally posted by Tommygun:I usually go with the Nodachi and Wakizashi for a solo charachter and for most of my people in a squad too. He takes them down in singular hits to vital areas, and if he hits an arm it's broken. They eventually wear him down with sheer numbers but because his armors so good when they knock him out he literally can get right back up in that same instant, over and over again until he wins, and repairs himself. My current guy was a light katana weilder that just switched to heavy blades and he's smashing entire armies of fogmen alone. But I think you may already know all this. When you get into fights just go blocks only to get your block skills up to a decent level before actually attacking anything. When first starting out I always try to find fights where I have backup from skilled allies like town guard or caravans and stuff, or if you find a town HQ go up in there and train on the dummy post for a second. A mixture of using light and heavy weapons is recomended though because lighter ones improve dexterity while heavier ones improve strength, and both are nessicery to a good warrior. You'll be able to carry all you want and not worry about being too heavy since you already are too heavy. I definitely recommend the heavy strategy, you'll be ultimately way more powerful and the fact that you cant run will mean you'll have to fight all the time, which will increase your stats. Stealth would also probably be highly reccomended in this path.Įither way you'll obviously want the highest quality of equipment you can find because you're going it alone and all the extra resistance to attacks and damage make a huge difference. All the hits you'll take really count, and you could get so badly injured to the point where you cant get back up and you just die. Downsides to this path are sometimes you just cant run with all the junk you're carrying so you may need to just travel lightly. You're also gonna want a ton of athletics so you can run when you're getting overwhelmed, and you're gonna need to be really good at blocking because you cant afford to get hit all the time. The other route you can take is just using the lightest fastest weapons and armor, in which case you want a really sharp blade that causes lots of bleeding. Downsides to this are you cant really run from a fight, and starting off training up your strength will make you really slow and vulnerable to attacks with your massive weapon. Heavy armor and heavy weapons to take the least amounts of damage while dishing out the most. And ideally you won't be spotted when sneaking around anyway. Generally anything good for combat sucks for stealth and vice versa. Note: You'll want a completely different loadout for any stealth activities. Katanas are hard to go wrong with, but heavy weapons are particularly fun on a solo character. ![]() They're only slightly weaker than Samurai Boots, but have basically none of the penalties. So it depends on what enemies you expect to fight.Īnd Plated Boots are the best boots by far. Drifter Pants have a better Blunt Resistance, but are worse when it comes to Cut damage. Might be smart to pair with the Samurai Boots instead of the ones listed below, since you clearly don't care for the penalties if you go with these.įor lighter ones, you'll want either the Drifters Pants or Cargopants. The Samurai Legplates are great for their damage resistance, but bring a ton of penalties with them. There are three good contenders depending on situation. At least try to get the Chain Shirt version, same defense but less coverage.Īs for pants. A good quality heavy armour will mitigate that damage significantly, and they don't have much in the way of penalties.īlackened Chainmail is also the best undershirt. And great resistances.Ī heavy armour chestplate is almost required if you want to take out large groups, as you have nobody to cover your back so you will get hit often. Perfect coverage, with practically no penalties. The Police Helmet is the best helmet statistically. But if you feel like min/maxing your character, here they are for you. Get strong enough and you kick everyone's butt, no matter what you're wearing. I usually just go with whatever I think is cool. Much like res although for different reasons, the games have been abandoned. Unfortunately the only developer left is a dolt and the obvious improvements like proper animation sync and basic graphics fundamentals will never be seen to. The game is too asymmetrical in regard to kill/death - beasts will die 3 or 4 times as much due to the nature of the game, plus the human only vets that ruin it. Much like the poster above will never play beast race and farm newbies with scores like 90/14 and never play for the team or for a fair game. This makes for a game that overall is just not fun unless you're a pro who's played for some years, new players get killed sometimes without a kill themselves and think why bother make myself food for the vets who can't give me a go. I think because vets have figured out how to use macros and block/switch items or weapon making use of the poor animation syncronization where some events only need 1 frame - like relocating. Part of the problem with Savage XR is that a lot of players only play human, which makes games harder to start and fair.
